Just Breathe

Living fast forward.

Many people have been sharing that it seems as if life is moving at warp speed. We over schedule our lives and the lives of our loved ones. This fast-paced lifestyle has been linked to increasing the amount of stress in our lives and causing some physical discomfort.

When is the last time you took a moment to just breathe?

By focusing on your breath a few minutes at a time two-to-three times a day, you may become more calm, think more clearly, and feel better. No special equipment required.

How to breathe.

Sit comfortably with your eyes closed or softly focused on something pleasant, such as a candle flame, ocean scene, flowers or other object. Inhale to the count of four (1...2...3...4), exhale to the count of eight (1...2...3...4...5...6...7...8), inhale to the count of four, exhale to the count of eight and so on until you feel a gentle shift in your body (or for a few minutes, whichever comes first).

A few minutes is all you need.

By focusing on your breath for only a couple of minutes a day you may begin to notice improvements in your life after only a couple of days. As this process begins to feel natural, allow yourself to increase the time of each exhalation; consider breathing in a square formation (inhale to the count of four, hold for four, exhale to the count of four, hold for four, continue); and allow stress and discomfort to release from your body with each exhalation.

Just breathe and feel your life respond.
